The railway path at Teewell Hill in Staple Hill (Cycling / Walking) will be closed for 8 weeks

20141002-Railway Path Closure 2014-OThe railway path at Teewell Hill in Staple Hill will be closed from Monday 6 October for approximately eight weeks. The essential closure has been scheduled so that our engineers can carry out the foundation works to widen the existing road bridge above the Bristol to Bath cycle and walking route.

Last month they closed the same stretch for one day while an old footbridge was removed which had reached the end of its life. During the upcoming closure, they will construct temporary platforms for the piling rigs to sit on which will allow the foundations for the new bridge widening works to be constructed. The widened bridge will provide new footways once the works are complete. While the railway path is temporarily closed, they will also carry out essential maintenance work on the Staple Hill tunnel to minimise any disruption. This will include repointing the inner faces of the airshafts and the arch of the tunnel. A diversion route will be in place while the work is carried out via Signal Road access ramp, Teewell Hill, Teewell Avenue, Seymour Road, lane between Nos. 24 and 26 Seymour Road, Soundwell Road, Page Road, Upper Station Road, Acacia Road, Acacia Road, Railway Path access track and vice versa.

Plan showing this diversion route (see attachment) They apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your journey while these essential works are carried out. Any questions please direct to the Council.
